At times, when we appear to be distracted, something somewhat unusual gets our attention. That's what happened when I was walking on a floor that had a misplaced tile, leaving the underneath totally uncovered. I looked at it for a minute or two, then ran to get the camera. The image has given me the impression of an abstract painting, in which the painter leaves the meaning up to the viewer. This has caused me to ponder quite a bit about how well attracted we are toward decaying artifacts. We have come to imitate what time does best, e.g., destroyed jeans, patinated sculptures, and rusted metals. However, in this case I just took the photo. I didn't alter what I saw before or after because in the end the untilled spot stood on its own. Its darkish and whitish segments give an unequivocal artistic perception. This little exercise gave me a good kick. Thus, if the post seems weird, I can only say,
vive la différence.
